Cycling Expedition: Pucon to Mamuil Malal, Border Pass to Argentina
This is not your typical bike tour — it’s a full-day expedition deep into the heart of the Andes, designed for experienced cyclists who crave challenge, solitude, and raw beauty.
We begin in Pucón and ride through quiet country roads, dense native forests, and high-altitude valleys as we make our way to the Mamuil Malal Pass, a stunning border crossing into Argentina that sits at the base of the mighty Volcán Lanín.
Along the way, you’ll climb gradual slopes, push through long stretches of wilderness, and be rewarded with epic views, crystal-clear rivers, and the sense of riding in a place few tourists ever reach. This route demands endurance, but the payoff is unforgettable: panoramic vistas, fresh mountain air, and the powerful silence of the frontier.
We’ll stop for a picnic-style lunch near the border, with views of the volcano and the vast Patagonian landscape beyond. After resting, we make the return ride to Pucón, arriving late in the afternoon with tired legs and full hearts.
