Kalawe Pucon Triathlon Challenge

Forge a new version of yourself in the wild crucible of Southern Chile — where water, earth, fire, and grit collide in a week-long test of body and soul.
Start with a breath of volcano air and lake wind as you swim the cool waters of Villarrica and cycle forest roads to hidden waterfalls. Chase mountain trails on foot, battle whitewater rapids, and plunge down canyons carved by time.
But it all builds to one defining moment: the Kalawe Triathlon — a brutal, beautiful fusion of open-water swimming, mountain biking, and high-altitude trail running through sacred Mapuche lands. Cross the finish line with a medal in hand and fire in your veins.
Then, as a final rite of passage, climb to the smoking summit of Villarrica Volcano — and let the world stretch below you in silence and awe.
This is more than an adventure. It’s your proving ground.

Pucon Trail Triathlon + Volcano: One Journey. Two Legends
This is not just a trip — it’s a moving story carved into the lakes, rivers and volcanoes of southern Chile. Over nine days, you’ll swim in the clear waters of Lake Villarrica, ride from the vibrant town of Pucón to the tranquil shores of Caburgua, and run forested trails to the breathtaking Melidekiñ viewpoint in the El Cañi Sanctuary.
You’ll discover the hidden power of the Trancura River while rafting its wild rapids, soak your tired muscles in the geothermal embrace of natural hot springs, and leap into pure adrenaline with canyoning in the Río Correntoso.
Then comes the heart of it all: the Kalawe Triathlon — a once-in-a-lifetime challenge blending a 1.5K lake swim, cycling through volcanic landscapes, and trail running deep into ancient forests, all in a single, unforgettable day. It’s not a competition, it’s a celebration of movement — one that doesn’t exist anywhere else.
And to crown it all, you’ll ascend the mighty Villarrica Volcano, an active, snow-dusted giant that watches over the entire region. It’s a climb into another world — where lava steams below and the clouds drift beneath your boots.
From the shores of Playa Grande to the depths of El Cañi, from Caburgua’s hidden waterfalls to the thermal rivers of Huife — this is adventure with a soul, crafted for those who long to feel truly alive.
In the heart of Chile’s wild south, you’ll swim, ride, run and rise — not just through mountains, but through your own limits. Will you show up for the challenge?

➢ Day 1: Temuco's Airport to PuconTouch down in Temuco but don’t get too comfortable — your journey into the heart of adventure begins now. After a scenic transfer from the airport to your accommodation in Pucon, you'll meet your Adventure Leader — the one who will guide, challenge, and inspire you throughout this experience. After a group briefing and safety check-in, stretch your legs on a walking tour through Pucon’s vibrant town center so you'll get familiarized with. Then, feel the first stirrings of something greater as you stand before the vast blue mirror of Lake Villarrica at Playa Grande. This is the calm before the storm.
-
➢ Day 2: Pucon to Caburgua's Black Beach via QuelhueClip in and roll out. Today’s MTB ride takes you through the soothing backroads of Quelhue and into the emerald corridor that leads to Caburgua. Discover the magic of Ojos del Caburgua, where underground rivers surge to the surface in electric-blue pools. Spot swirling life below at the Mirador de Peces. Then glide past Laguna Azul, Salto Las Vertientes, Los Copihues and Bellavista — a crescendo of waterfalls, forest paths, and soul-lifting silence. Your ride ends on the black sands of Playa Negra, where lake and volcano meet in silent awe.
-
➢ Day 3: El Cañi's Sanctuary TrekkingStrap on your boots and summon your strength. Today, you hike into the ancient soul of the Andes — the El Cañi Sanctuary. This 8-hour trek to the Melidekiñ lookout point challenges not just your legs, but your will. Climb through mossy lenga forests and up misty ridgelines until you reach the Melidekiñ lookout, where all of Pucon & Caburgua unfolds beneath you. In this sacred place of silence and wind, something inside you shifts.
-
➢ Day 4: Pucon to Palguín Alto: The "Waterfalls Route" Bike RideSaddle up for the "Waterfalls Route" a 60 km MTB round-trip ride that’s as raw as it is breathtaking. Start with the thundering Salto La Mula, then lose yourself in the twin beauty of Los Mellizos. Each waterfall along this route — La China, El Diablo, El León, El Puma — tells its own story in spray and stone. Finish at Termas de Palguín, where your tired muscles find fire-forged relief in geothermal pools carved into the wild.
-
➢ Day 5: Canyoning & Cerduo Bike ParkYour morning begins with raw adventure: canyoning down the Río Correntoso. Leap, slide, and rappel through a series of pristine waterfalls and narrow gorges in one of Pucon’s wildest river canyons — an unforgettable adrenaline rush wrapped in jungle mist and mountain water. After a well-earned lunch back in town, it's time to shift into high gear. In the afternoon, head to Cerduo Bike Park, nestled on the lower slopes of the mighty Villarrica Volcano. Here, volcanic soil and forest trails combine for a perfect blend of flowy descents, technical features, and natural obstacles. From water to wheels, this day is all about harnessing nature’s energy — and your own.
-
➢ Day 6: Huerquehue National Park TrekkingToday, step into a living postcard: Huerquehue National Park, where ancient araucaria trees tower over glacial lakes and soaring peaks. This full-day trek takes you deep into the Andean foothills on one of the park’s most iconic trails — the Los Lagos trail. Follow winding forest paths past a series of shimmering high-altitude lagoons: Laguna Verde, Laguna Toro, and Laguna Huerquehue. Along the way, catch panoramic views of the Villarrica Volcano and the valley below. The trail is steep at times, but the reward is pure southern magic — crisp mountain air, wild bird calls, and the serene beauty of untouched Patagonia. This is the day to breathe deep, hike far, and feel fully alive.
-
➢ Day 7: Rafting + Thermal Hot SpringsThe Trancura River doesn’t ask for permission — it tests your nerve with Class III rapids that twist and surge through native forest. Paddle hard, shout louder, and emerge soaked in triumph. Then trade wild water for still heat at Termas Pucón Indómito, where you’ll soak under the sky and let nature press its hand gently on your soul.
-
➢ Day 8: Summit the living giant: Villarrica Volcano AscentYour final challenge is the most iconic of them all: the ascent of Villarrica Volcano, one of Chile’s most active and awe-inspiring peaks. As dawn breaks over the Lake and Volcano District, begin your climb across snowfields and rugged slopes toward the smoking crater above. With every step, the landscape shifts — from rocky outcrops to icy stretches — until you reach the edge of the earth itself: a panoramic summit that looks out over volcanoes, lakes, and a vast southern horizon. Steam rises from the crater below, the sky feels closer than ever, and a fierce sense of accomplishment surges through your body. You didn’t just visit this land — you conquered its heights. This is more than a climb. It’s a defining moment.
-
➢ Day 9: GoodbyeWith your legs tired, your heart full, and your mind forever changed, it’s time to say goodbye. But something's different now. You came here as a visitor but now you leave as part of the wild.
